– Dimensions of Diversity: Languages and identity, culture, gender, ability

– European Language Policy and European Language Portfolio(s)

– Education Package (Pädagogik Paket), the new foreign language syllabus and 

   competence framework for primary school


Course Goals:

The students...

– can reflect on the new Austrian Primary School Curriculum for Foreign Language in the context of European Language Policies

– develop transcultural competence and can foster an inclusive learning environment 

– understand the interrelationship between languages and identity, culture and gender

– apply multilingual teaching strategies and materials to facilitate foreign language acquisition at primary level

– know what the different parts of a foreign language lesson plan entail

– can create simple foreign language teaching sequences for a multilingual/multicultural class
